    probably yes πŸ˜‚

I've never had issues with updates as well, so I don't really understand the frustration seemingly everyone is having.

I've most definitely been fucked over by a Windows update.

Can I ask you two which processor you are running? I'm quite convinced that mainly intel cpus or the compiled code for intel processors are the origin of the problem. Because my father runs an i7 and he had one of those biggo bugs that killed all his settings.

Currently running i7 and have historically always had Intel processors.

    That's an interesting insight.

@Mokalottay yeah with spectre etc. I'm assuming intel isn't just cutting corners on security...

    No issues with Win7.

Also, I bet there are a LOT of folks without Windows update issues, most notably those who use Linux or macOS. ;-)

@Fast-Nop hey, how about not rubbing everybody in their face that you use linux. Now go back in your den and fix your terminal or something

I mean really whats with this community that EVERY fucking windows post theres some guy:huh linux doesnt have that issue.

@EdoPhoenix look boy, that's how it works:

    1. reading
    2. understanding
    3. posting

You started with step 3. Start over with step 1 at the first line of my previous comment.

Well i read that you used win7 but thats just such a linuxfreak comment
  • 3
@EdoPhoenix I guess I can be glad that you stopped reading after Linux. Otherwise, you might have gone as far as to call me an Apple freak.

I haven't in the past half year or so

I have a desktop i5 system, an old MacBook Pro and a works provided Dell XPS 15 plus one Toshiba laptop that my wife uses and three Asus laptops that my kids use - all run Windows 10, and not one has been buggered up by Windows Update.

@IceFreak2000 okay evidence against my theory, but I wonder maybe it's the K editions? I know from experience they're a bit unstable at certain asm calls. Nothing crashing, but some of the legacy asm operations sometimes do things they shouldnt specificationwise, but I just could be stupid and understood them the wrong way. Propably something Microsoft would use for backwards compability

Either you have or you lie.
Or... Just dpnt have windows. Or maybe just one machine that you never windows update on (yes, that is a verb.)

@EdoPhoenix Completely forgot about the desktop machine that my son uses (and built/bought himself) - it's only an i3, but it is a K edition processor (8350k). Again, he's not been affected adversely by Windows Update

@IceFreak2000 okay there goes my theory.

But can we find somebody who got wrecked by windows update and has an amd cpu? I'd like to be able to throw the theory out and fully blame Microsoft on this one

Never been fucked by windows updates as far as I recall, using win 7, 8.1, and 10.
Though it's probably because I've always completely disabled automatic updates (including win10 - yes you can do that), and always updated manually what I wanted when I wanted.

@EdoPhoenix I havn't had issues, but have an AMD CPU, though an old one - Phenom2 1100T.

Been away from windows for 6 years now(I love penguins). my last memory was with the sweet windows 7

I use Arch and so should you 😀

    Lol jk.

I've been running Windows 10 on multiple machines since it was released, problems are very rare and I've never had anything weird happen after an update.

In my experience when you install the updates when Windows asks you instead of installing them as soon as they get released or worse completely ignore the updates you're fine. The only machines having problems with updates were never updated and Windows failed to install them all at once.

@crafter that could be it, most of these win update killed my files news show up after major security updates. Makes even more sense if you think about internal testing, of course they check every update so that they dont push some major bullcrap(code, not design), but who in the damn world would test update chains.
