Well i tried both of them and DigitalOcean is a bit simpler to setup especially if you just need a simple prod environment. But AWS is also pretty good but just at least in my opinion a bit overkill for a simple prod/dev environment. But surely depends on the project size.

Customers having a say in things they don't understand is the worst thing that can happen in any field.

If you have to choose between those two, DO for simplicity and price, AWS for advanced features and scaling customers.

Personally using Digital Ocean. Vultr seems pretty good as well though.

why does everyone seem to like linode? I couldn’t stand their web panel.

I like vultr since they have a very nice web interface, and their pricing is as cheap as linode’s with better performance.
