I'm planning on stopping my mail server but I don't know to which service I should move, I have a custom domain that I need to link, for example Google cloud apps where I can forward emails, but of course I don't want to use Google.

Any recommendations?

    Any thoughts about tutanota? I use it for personal emails but for custom domains?

    Any reasons why you’re stopping?

    I’m actually thinking of setting up a private email server but not sure if it’s worth it besides it being a learning project.

    @toriyuno Afraid of security management tbh + cost cutting, I was checking tutanota and it can cost 12 Euros/year while I pay for my mail server 48 Euros/year

    I use improvmx as a forwarder, didn't feel like setting up a mail server for the lack of emails I get through it.

    just a mx record and an email to send emails too and it's done, overall it Seems to be alright and accepts wildcards for inbound email although can be a bit slow at times on free version

    @C0D4 I see, will check them out, thanks man :D

    @gitpush Keep in mind that Tutanota doesn't yet offer lots of additional features such as calendar, IMAP, etc.

    If that's something that you need, I suggest taking a look to https://mailbox.org/en/.

    @Jilano Well after checking further I decided that I will most probably keep my mail server, tutanota 20 alias plan is 60Euros/yr while my server can make unlimited aliases, for 48/yr

    I'll just check configs to make sure security is all good.

    By the way I use Mailu, do you recommend anything else?

    @FuckJava Can I self host it?

    @gitpush
    No
    It's a secure anonymous mail solution hosted in Switzerland

    If you're looking to self host just get a VM from AWS (or me if you want on in Australia) and install CentOS

    @FuckJava I see, well currently I'm using Mailu, not sure if you heard of it on an Ubuntu server.

    What advantages CentOS built in mail have?

    @gitpush
    I use CentOS because it's name is easier to type for me.
    It comes with exim. Look it up

    @FuckJava Thanks will check it out

    @gitpush If you have specifics needs, that's probably for the best.

    Never looked too much into it, I'll check it out!

    @Jilano +1 for mailbox.org. I use it with my custom domain, works like a charm.

    Yet I wouldn't call IMAP an "additional" feature. No IMAP, no mail.

    @JustKidding Fair enough, but lots of email services don't offer them as in you have to use their webmail. That can be a bother for some.
