Of course, I do, though the only times I make a commit to my repo is when I hit specific milestones.

So, you can't do intermediate saves, and commit when you are done with piece of code you are working on? Is it a tool thing?

Have you ever accidentally pressed the wrong keys while typing too fast? You know, instead of pressing Cmd + / to comment a block of highlighted code, you accidentally pressed something else that makes your Editor do that instead, but it also does one more thing on top of that, such as collapsing the said block. So, as a result, you try to revert that fuck up by pressed Cmd + Z, HOWEVER, for some fucked up reason, you pressed backspace by accident (because your other hand is all fucking twitchy from all the Cocaine you snorted earlier in the loo), which deleted the said block of code. So, you try to revert additional fuck up by pressing Cmd + Z again, but maybe you accidentally pressed S instead of Z.
Since all that shit took place in a span of maybe 1 ~ 2 seconds, XCode lost its shit and crashed.

So yeah, I FUCKING COMPILED THAT SHIT.
