Going to completely blow a deadline? I have a solution, but the entire dev team on the project. That'll solve the problem!

If you manage to finish it this weekend, you'll have an option to take the entire next week off

@asgs If we don't finish it this weekend we'll probably need to start looking for new jobs next week. I doubt the company is going to keep us around when they get sued

Although, honestly, I have not seen a Dev team that ever made a deadline, because deadlines are arbitrary, and most companies understand that. The point of a deadline is to stress the team to get as close to that deadline as possible, but with a viable release. I'm writing with a team that has a deadline of last month (March) but they are overshooting, and now the deadline is next January. Why? Because the deadline was arbitrary, and wholly unreachable, because no one knew the technology (AWS) at the time. Now they've learned a bit, and the business has been educated, and everyone is chill.

@iAmNaN It could be a hard deadline though. Like in "Legislation changes starting from 1 January. People won't get their salaries when the project isn't finished by then."

@FunkDelegate yes, that is true. We have regulatory mandates fairly often (airline industry), but the FAA is pretty reasonable with their expectations, and the business understand that those take priority over everything else.

Our deadline due to coincide with our clients announcement of receiving a large investment from some VC groups. The final date was yesterday, but they decided to push the due date now.

Unsurprisingly, it is due to the client not getting their content entered in the CMS as we requested they start doing 10 weeks ago.

Oh well, home stretch and we should be done by Friday. This project has been a nightmare from day one.
