    I know!
    It's the reason why I want to murder people that post code online and the code uses curly quotes.

    i dont wanna shock you, but in germany we also use „…“ lower/upper quotes :P
  • 4
    In literature, those exist, too: »...«.
  • 2
    @Dizzy aren't they used in Spanish as well?
  • 1
    @Commodore might be yes, im not so familiar with Spanish, but I think europe often uses this type of quotes
  • 0
    @Dizzy Some languages use the German quotes, some (like French) use these ugly ones: « ... », and I'm probably forgetting at least one other type in Europe

    a =γ€Œ δΊŒι‡ι‰€ζ‹¬εΌ§ 」
    b = γ€Œγ€Ž δΊŒι‡ι‰€ζ‹¬εΌ§ γ€γ€

    But I write strings in my code vertically for readability:

    c =
    ﹁
    二
    重
    鉀
    括
    εΌ§
    οΉ‚

    « and some (like French) use these ugly ones: « ... »»

    I’m a bit offended

    @-vim- daily level offended or somewhat higher? 😜

    @-vim- I'm an English-speaking Canadian living in France, so yes, I can imagine that you are, which wasn't really my intention, just my honest opinion πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

    I SO fucking hate the curly ones
  • 1
    I dislike when you copy code that has straight quotes to send to someone else and the application you’re using to send it to them CONVERTS THEM TO CURLY QUOTES.
