Anyone have good suggestions for an inexpensive programming keyboard? I don't care about gaming.

@irene i'd totally buy that keyboard for my mom or my grandmother but for someone who types all day, a mech keyboard goes a long way

Amazon has a sale for the k63. It's tkl and mech 50USD

You should not buy a cheap keyboard as a dev IMO. It's not that expensive and it changes a lot to have good input devices.

I bought myself a Razer 4 years ago for 80€. Still using it now. It feels like every key is kissing my fingers when I type lol.

    >i don't agree with you so you are an elitist
    Flawless logic right there.

I just picked up a Corsair K55 and find it the best all around keyboard for work. 3 other Devs at my shop grabbed it after typing on mine. Best key press with a membrane for cherry mx key types. Makes for a buttery smooth typing experience. Super responsive with no clicky that can annoy coworkers. While I have the more high end Corsair k70 rapid-fire for gaming at home this entry level k55 is perfect for everyday dev work and the 6 macro keys are nice to remap for Vim or whatever you like!

Also, LED colour always makes you a better developer. See what your pressing during those late night code sessions. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. 😂😂

@irene you are overanalyzing. If you think saying "ew" is a way that i'm putting myself on a pedestal and shaming you i think you should read my comment again and underline where i was hostile. God forbid someone says "ew" when i'm eating frog legs at a seafood restaurant.
    I will not reply anymore

Membranes work, but they just work. I'd rather have something with a shorter depth because I'm used to the MacBook and has nice feedback.

@fuck2code pro 2015, the last good keyboard. The new butterfly isn't trash, but it's still, idk. I dont think I'd like it long term

@Techno-Wizard that was before the switch redesign right? The one that got screwed up and needed repairs left and right?
  • 2
@fuck2code yes, the last one before the disaster

IBM Model M, if you can snag one for like $60 (like I did)

A little pricey for a "cheap" keyboard suggestion but it'll last forever.

@Techno-Wizard have you looked into getting a second hand one from ebay, maybe one from 2015? Or a refurb from 2015. Sounds like a safe bet to me if you find a cheap one

@fuck2code lol I'm not replacing my current laptop. I'm making a desk dock for myself.
