So I'm an intern at a small company for a duration of 2 months. Not a lot of work is allotted to me right now. Every evening I have this weird feeling when I have to leave, cuz practically based on the work I could have left after lunch but I've got to stay here and wait till enough people or just someone leaves to make it seem okay.

I leave an hour before anyone else in my team... every now and again I get that feeling, but then I remember I get in an hour before them 🥳

Don't feel guilty, if you have completed your work for the day then that's that.

    @C0D4 thanks for that

How about tell someone that you completed your task for today and if he needs help ?

Ask someone if he knows what pair programming is and if you can sit next to him and watch what’s he working on.

( I am not good on giving advice )

@vane that's a nice advice actually, thank you for that. But honestly I would like to leave in some cases. It is morning for me rn btw

@NightAxeblade Well soft skills are essential on higher positions I always appreciate if someone asks first.

For me job is not a prison like ex university lectures if you need to live just tell people what you need.

If they got you into internship I suppose they saw something and want to help you.

@vane that is very true and something I will follow from now on. Thank you again

@NightAxeblade You can work on your soft skills, it takes time, mine were not existent like I didn’t ask anyone for anything and it was hard ride cause nobody explained it to me but expected I know this stuff.

You also need to know the limits and boundaries, empathy helps with it.
Just try feel that you’re part of something and you’re not there for punishment.

Anyway good luck and have fun.

If you care about getting a job at that company after your internship ends, ask for more work and try to take on more responsibilities(within your abilities of course). Even if you're not interested in your current company, try to learn as much as you can and build good relationships with your colleagues, you might need reference s from them later.
Focus on your soft skills like the other guys said. At your level, nobody expects you to have a lot of technical skills (and technical skills are easier to improve through self-study and practice).

I always left 15 mins after my boss when i was an intern

When I don't have anything to do, I ask others for work only when someone is drowning in work (I would know that) while I'm idle.

Otherwise, I'm browsing the internet for tech related stuff so that I learn something interesting.
