After 16 years of porn addiction, I've finally realized that the only way to stop any addiction, is to take control of your mind. Nobody can help you, except make you realize the source of the problem or factors that cause it.

It's strange to describe how the mind works, sometimes we need stuff in our lives because we need to spend time on something to avoid the emptiness.

Free yourself from the things you love the most, in my case I love playing video games, it helps me feel complete, but in all honesty, I don't need it. I like drinking energy drinks, but in the end, I don't need that too.

My point is that once you find a way to deal with the things you can't live without, you find a way to live with it.

The only reason I watch porn is to reduce stress or have something "fun" to do.

As Bruce Lee once said: Be formless, be shapeless, be water my friend.

I like to think that he means to let the urge flow within you, but don't let it control you.

@netikras It's been two hours... I don't know what happened to him, but I'm worried.

@Jilano now that you've mentioned it I'm getting worried too...

Did he get blown? I mean away, from his balcony on the 45th floor?

@Nanos Wikipedia (best source ever!) describes addiction as:

"compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli despite adverse consequences"

So it's a habit that feels rewarding in the moment, while it's negatively affecting your life overall.

The problem with that is that to understand "negatively affecting your life" you first have to define what the meaning of life is -- which apparently isn't a very objective, tangible thing.

The difficult part is that you often don't fully know whether something enhances or subtracts from your life until you try, but when you try, you might rapidly go too far.

So no wise advise from the hedonist here.

I've tried everything (well... a lot), and most stupid things have made my life more interesting and enjoyable.

But I think I'm naturally a person who says "Fucking you in a pink pandabear suit on 150mg mdma and a tab of LSD is amazing, but let's save the whips and ketamine for next time?"

    So, some moderation, I guess?

    I honestly don't know.

I also think the most beautiful treatment to porn/sex addiction is realizing how much better it gets with some moderation.

I don't know how it is for female bodies, but men are set to a rhytm of about 2-3 days.

2 orgasms per day will just be meh, 2 per week will be so much better -- especially if you take the time for sex, really make it last 1-2 hours, learn some tantra/edging techniques.

And that goes for all hedonistic activities: Eat good food in moderation, and take your time to really taste it. Get pure drugs (if you're into it), know your body, take it in moderation.

Hedonism is my religion, and pleasure is sacred.

So treat it as sacred, with attention and respect.

Be thankful for the moments of absolute bliss. Take enough time before and after to prepare and reflect. Be ritualistic about it, rituals give healthy context. Buy the best beans and put on your coffee-brewing robe. Thank the goddess of fellatio by showing your girl the time of her life.

@Nanos i dont think i understand what you mean

@Nanos well, you definetly have a point, but i still think that porn is what drives people towards degeneracy, which in turn leads to many symptoms.

@Nanos porn should always be avoided tbh. nothing wrong with nuclear power though

Try cycling or running. Really, try.

@Nanos if you can't concentrate, sleep or do anything productive then that is an issue. So be porn, drugs or whatever you want to call it. Porn is a big problem, and society is gradually realizing it.
  • 1
@Nanos usually, the oldest, simplest and most traditional method of doing things is the best.

@RenoX People say porn leads to degenerate ideas about real life sex. I say, it doesn't go far enough...

*Bittersweet pours barbecue sauce over his chest, grabs 6 foot long dragon dildo and starts deepthroating until blood flows from his nose*

OK, maybe you have a point, maybe I have some warped ideas.

Although I don't have copulatory impotency, for me it's so context dependent. The right girl... All I need is a smile and the glimpse of an ankle.

@netikras Yeah... He still doesn't seem right. Pretty sure a meth related incident happened.

@rutee07 That'll teach you to... Dream?
Never heard about this movie. What is it about?

@Nanos Most definitely. While I do enjoy the occasional fantasy books, I've been quite underwhelmed with "real life".

    @Jilano @Nanos

The question is whether it's bad. Would real life be better without stories? Of course not.

I'm disappointed I can't play with my dragon pet or pilot a shuttle through an asteroid belt, but the essence of stories does inspire me to make real life more enjoyable.

And the same actually goes for porn. While it's highly unrealistic, and severely under-represents the importance of pleasuring women, there's also a lot of inspiration to be drawn from it.

What people call depraved is not depraved because of the actions themselves, but because it reveals the true nature of people.

Take drugs with a group of 10 friends, and you very rapidly discover which friends you can trust. Dive dick-first into an orgy, and before the end of the night you might have seen a hint of psychopathy in a girl's eyes.

Pleasure is not depraved, but people's minds sometimes are.

The trick is discovering and accepting your own weaknesses, the moments where you need to pace or stop yourself.
