sleek34485yDoesnt sound like a company that will result in any fruitful career. If they think they can simply not be affected by a dev leaving and save the money to themselves u should get out of there. However - i advise u to work the extra stuff so u learn them then apply somewhere else with a new set of skills to show off on ur resume.

Take over, let them know you are mad about them dumping it on you, get to know the area, leave with the reason of them just adding responsibility, apply at other workplace.

At least let them know that with great power comes great responsibility, and with great responsibility comes great salary. Make it clear that dumping the work of a senior dev on you without also increasing your position as well is not acceptable.

C0D4669025yDo it enough times and they end up with a big bus issue (I'm 3 devs deep and they recently closed off getting another dev in)
Welcome to the bus club, Where your resignation will be the end of them 🤘
Take on the responsibility, get familiar with the new areas and then become the bus and move on.

I work at a small company (4 devs, CTO, a senior, me: mid level, and a new junior dev). Junior and I handle the client projects and the Senior and CTO handle the overall platform and server deployments and such. Our senior dev just gave his 2 weeks notice. I was told they are not replacing him and now ALL of his tasks have been pushed onto me on top of all my already full plate. My issue is, although I am excited to learn about the upper management and deployment stuff, they (CTO and CEO) just dumped all these tasks onto me without even asking if I wanted the added responsibility and also told me there is no monetary bonus for taking it all on. Am I right in being a little mad that I was not even asked if I wanted it and it was just assumed I would handle it all without any bonus or monetary promotion?
