We need a new, better Stack Overflow. Preferably with blackjack and hookers, but I'm not picky.

@vane Xms, not Xmx :)
EDIT: lemme scan through that page again. I may have missed things the first time
EDIT2: Yupp, that's still Xms I'm talking about :) And the JVM has not been rebooted, meaning the GC implementation has not been changed. Not to mention that having a S0/S1 of 3GB each sounds a bit extreme :) -
vane110525y@netikras yeah but it might be not java related topic as you use many layers, jvm is only sending the memory allocation request also there is possible free memory system call so under heavy load jvm can free some memory to not get oom kill from system.
-
@vane and I was under an impression this is exactly the thing -Xms would prevent JVM from doing... Also the JVM has never exceeded 60% of container's RAM, so OOMK was never a threat.
-
vane110525y@netikras Well you use at least 12 memory allocators in your configuration jvm allocator that align memory to power of 2 ex. in jdk https://github.com/openjdk/jdk/...
jdk virtual memory allocator
OS jvm allocator and virtual memory allocator
Mesos memory allocator and virtual memory allocator.
https://mesos.readthedocs.io/en/...
OS mesos host allocator.
So shit can burn :) -
Stack overflow is reddit for coders too much negativity. People just waiting for posts to downvote all the time.
Posted a question on SO a few minutes ago. It seems like they are downvoting questions before reading them. If after reading the question it appears legit and written according to all the rules - they return the upvote.
