My laptop's fan is blowing so fiercely like someone is trying to mine a crypto on it.

    @irene
    It only helps a little. I am blaming the heat and chrome.

    For several years I thought that it's just laptop is shit but occurred that there was crypto-inject shit mining crypto. So consider scanning for virus.

    Every x86 machine I own remained shut down for several days, except for one server that I didn't want to turn off... Bloody things generate way too much heat. Good thing it's finally over...

    @NoMad @Pogromist @irene In Western Europe there has been a heatwave for the last couple of days, and the hottest one that's ever occured since measurements have started (in Belgium anyway). Yesterday the temperature went up to 41°C in many places.

    @NoMad Well, for what it's worth, my Linux machines were all shut down too, except for the ARM-based ones ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ this was not an issue with Windows, it was one with ambient heat.

    @NoMad Oh, yeah here I didn't shut them down to protect the machines either, they were able to go through the heatwave just fine (I forgot to check the internal temperatures but I gues something like 60°C, the servers usually run at about 20°C above ambient) so it was more than anything to prevent them from cooking me, haha. Each machine can heat up the house by a degree or 2, and there's 5 of them 😅
    @irene "it doesn't happen in my country, therefore it's not happening anywhere".

    @Condor Ah, yeah..maybe that's the reason.
