    About a year ago I witnessed the same with Windows ME. This is an upgrade.

    Caltrain ticket terminals still use XP, but they're also not connected to a network and dial in when you buy tickets with them.

    I saw a cash machine running windows the other day. Never realised that they were full desktop computers, I assumed that it'd be a stripped down embedded thing, but this one was running full Windows 7 (professional or maybe enterprise? I can't remember). It was stuck in a boot loop so you could see what it was on the login screen just before it crashed and rebooted. I'm pretty certain it wasn't the usual "embedded" version of the OS you'd expect it to have.
