I quit my previous job to relax. Then current job came out of nowhere.
How? I just added a new framework I tried to my resume.
Best decision made so far.2
Regarding the web and mostly for large scale projects, what cms platform or even mvc like framework would you prefer to use or work with and why?9
The last 3 days I was working on a module that extends a built-in module to add extra functionalities. It was half a success cause the last feature was causing errors.
After spending all day debugging, I closed the IDE to leave work with disappointment. Then I noticed that the whole platform was throwing the last exception on every page, making it completely unusable.
Took me 5 minutes to fix it, just to make the platform usable again. And then I realized that I actually fixed the whole thing that took me all day to fix.
Leaving work Friday after completing pending long tasks.. Priceless!3
Today I decided to quit my job as a web developer.
And so I did..
April fools. I'm still working all day without time to do or learn new things.2
I've been helping a friend of mine with his postgraduate project the last 3 months.
It was a Java based program made in Processing. Though I am not a Java developer and I never used processing before, it wasn't that hard to write the logic of the program.
I noticed that sometimes Java made me use loops for almost everything.
Also I had to communicate between server and client via JSON but I had to write it manually as string due to the lack of keys in Java.
The main trial though was with the logic of the project. It was supposed to be made as a framework to be extended from custom user classes. I had to change the core classes I made many times because the user class had methods that should run while the parent class didn't have them declared. That could be my fault for not knowing how to write desktop application framework but you can't expect a framework to be extended in a compiled state, or so I think. Processing on the other hand doesn't seem to like the idea of an external java library. At least it didn't workout for me, it should be able to work normally.
In the end the project was never as completed as we wanted. It could rum a basic sim but we hadn't the time to test other possibilities.
Every time someone asks too many things to get the job. Like knowledge of commonly used platforms yet they expect you to know many of the fashionable technologies like node, angular etc. All these for junior developers. And all they want in the end is to make you make payed plugins yourself instead of just purchasing the existing ones.
This makes me thinking, is it me as just an average web developer that needs to learn everything, or is it just them that they just want to pay less to do much more?1
Happy new year fellow coders, developers, may your next deadline be reasonable. Have a productive night with less bugs and more coffee!1
What's wrong with notepad++? Can't get any plugin to work with x64 version. It's not like it was released yesterday, x64 version should accept plugins...
Has anybody ever missed the xmas feast at day cause you spent your night coding or finishing a project the previous day?
Happend to me 2 years ago twice and I found myself waking up and went directly for the new years eve.
A better OS for smartphones.
Something more complete than android < 7.
Finally android 7 makes it interesting.
