I liked it for simple nodejs apps at school, however since I've started using Docker I exclusively deploy my apps on vps'ses because I find it more fun

@alexbrooklyn How was your experience back then ?
  • 2
It's fairly cool. I use it to deploy Laravel & Node apps. And also as way to provide access to Remote client while showing progess and bla bla while freelancing.....

One thing to note is that if you are not using Amazon s3 and saving files in own public folder, then heroku deletes the file or images in few hours.

@niush u, why is that ? I mean if it happen then its a huge possibility for losing content !
Also what 're the alternatives ?
  • 2
@programmerbugx an external fileserver or 3rd party file storage

    It's just how it is.
You either store images, files in AWS S3 or sometimes I prefer Imgur for images only.

    Heroku S3 Doc: https://devcenter.heroku.com/articl...

Personally, I just use it for testing and sharing so not a problem for me Yet.

Then whats the better way to host flask web app !
  • 2
@programmerbugx there are probably hosts that offer a ready-to-go Flask environment that just ask for the files

    Or...

Go full on devops and try out an unmanaged linux server :p

But only if you can afford the time to learn, I'd not recommend doing that in prod unless you have some experience

@alexbrooklyn I am already late for deploying that crap . i think i need a quick & easy thing

The only thing I hate from it’s node container is they posted the full source code instead of only the build one

@devTea Which one is your favorite ?
  • 1
@programmerbugx not really my favourite but ibm cloud only use the build folder, the downside is you have to keep pushing every 10 days for a free tier

@devTea well , i was working on flask and people suggest heroku , so i was asking for people experience in it ! thanks
