People who use special characters in filenames, or characters that don't match /[a-zA-Z0-9]-_./ Should by law be executed by hanging and public humiliation.

    Unicode should be standard for everything by now. I see no problem.

    @theMaintainer maybe because they mean different things? For example "šišanje" in Croatian means getting a haircut, while "sisanje" means sucking tits 💁‍♂️

    @theMaintainer there are shitloads of regular characters that are perfectly fit for a file name, and are not emoji. Consider this:
    zażółć gęślą jaźń.pdf
    And explain why those characters are bad choices for the file name? They are outside of your scope but they are perfectly valid for my language. Let's ask someone russian or hindi for his opinion too!
