I suggest, we should add programming tests or language syntax test to verify users and keeping devrant away from stupid people.

Or give some kind of verfied status for the real devs

Who decides who lives and or dies? Who comes up with the questions?

Or are we gonna spam LinkedIn/github profile links at eachother?

What if I know jack shit about sorting algoritms but have a fulltime dev role? What if all my projects are either private or confidential?

@alexbrooklyn I understand making it exclusive is kind of arrogant concept but I also don't want things to go downhill.

For instance, Quora was a good platform with people who'd answer for questions which was in their area of expertise but now it's nothing more than gaining upvotes.
A selfie, or something which doesn't answer the question has more upvotes than some useful one.

Devrant is not there, but in large user base you will always find the problem.

Regarding the type of test, I suggested anything which could prove you're a dev in your field.

No this will just limit the community ... it's better that we the just report those asshats ...

But nothing prevents me from Googling my way through such an exam, or pretending I know what development is like after 1 codeacademy course or one js course at college

'Posers' get development positions sometimes while they know jack shit, or think of downgraded sales people Wordpressing websites together and calling themselves developers

I can imagine what you mean, to weed out the memes and dumb pics, but it's hard to .filter() people

Besides, think of the elitsm culture it might create

    @alexbrooklyn But then you're a dev😉

Even if you could solve things by googling you're one of us

@chowdercake then I don't think it would be able to stand the test of shitposts and bad memes

But it will at least avoid pretentious ones from posting things for likes

@alexbrooklyn I know what I suggested is not a exact solution and as @Asbetha mentioned reporting is the only way at the moment

But we can try to make it exclusive to devs only
