So I'm about to graduate in a few days. What should I do now with the freedom I have now? I'm 21 years old. Should I work in a small startup to learn new things or a big company as my first job? I would also like to work as a freelancer. What do you guys suggest? I would like to spend my time wisely, but I don't want to get stuck in a job I don't like... I'm just trying to figure it all out..

    And you’re asking yourself this a couple of days before graduation?

    I’d stay away from start ups for your first three years or so while you adjust to the industry

    Start-up = easy to get, high risk but big reward
    Corporate = harder to get, more stable, easier to hold down, less risk, less reward
    Freelance = you need to be good at business and marketing yourself, need a good network, depend on high volume of work.

    @thatguyatwork do you have a preference for which kind of company you'd like to work for? Which role you'd like to do? How do you feel about corporate culture?

    If you don't have answers to those questions then @HugRant is right to ask why you're only thinking about it a few days before you're released into the wild.

    You're 21. Get the hardest work you can and go all in.

    And plow through it, at least for a year.

    Then you'll know a little bit more about what you want.

    Do as much as you can, until you're unstoppable. Then stop. And learn to be unstoppable on demand.

    What @HughRant means is:
    "Why are you asking this questions few days before graduation instead of planning it years before or at least make some scenarios/plan during your study?"
    I already have some plans (A-Z with multiple scenarios) for the next 3 years even if my graduation is still 1 year away.

    @cho-uc the plans that you make when you're 20 are irrelevant. Taking life as it comes makes you much more versatile and capable.

    It's ok to be asking these questions even after graduation.
