How do you guys deal with managers who message you after hours about work? My slack and email keep going off and it's been causing me a bit of anxiety. I decided to close the slack app on my computer and change the notification preferences so that I can breathe for a bit today. I am a frontend dev intern.

Just respond first thing in the morning. Then he will realize you have a life next to work. If he doesn't, confront him about it

Our slack has a base setting that disables notifications outside of working hours,so unless there is some very extreme bug they need you for, that the on call people cannot handle, you don’t have to expect any calls.

I refuse to install Slack or Jabber on my phone for that very reason. Unfortunately, someone wrote my number on a bathroom stall, so they all have my number anyway...

@iAmNaN I hope you’re joking about the bathroom stall lol.

@dastackman no other explanation for my number spreading so quickly among the Teams I support. As one of my co-workers put it so inelegantly, "your their little b***h."

I give, I help, but everything in life has a price.

Once they asked to me work 1 month straight, no issue I worked, I fixed all the stuff and I asked for a leave paid , they say no, I resign, this is was 2 years ago, they keep sending emails with apologies and offering money to me go back.

What you're passing isn't cool, but remember everything in life has a price and the company needs more you than you need more the company.

Up to 2 hours after eod - reply if they need only short replies. Only to questions you do not need your pc for.

2+ hours after eod - ignore

I only allow this 2hr window bcz our shifts do not overlap time-wise. If a short repky is enough to keep them productive then I can afford that.
