Spent 4 hours trying to fix a problem which fixed in just 4 lines of code.

My wife feels sorry for me.

    I've spent days on a one-line change.

To make myself feel worse, I divide the hours spent by the number of characters it took to fix.

Once I tried to fix a bug for more than the half of a year. Then an other colleague (who is something like a super hero master programmer) looked at it and found the solution in five minutes. I only had to insert one little single if statement.

All the fixes usually require a couple of rows of code. It rarely happens that it's longer than this. You can't measure the "easiness" of a fix in number of rows
