To my boss who thinks is ok to message somebody:

- On his/her day off
- On Saturday
- On a Sunday morning

Of course all was related to business as usual stuff no real emergency stuff nor that would have impacted anyone waiting till Monday morning.

Of course no overtime nor on call here and been blamed due my ‘flexible’ schedule (read arriving at 09:15 rather say 09:00) but of course out of office hours work or having to deal with hot projects no one was able to deliver does not count...

If you have a work phone, just turn it off. In case he's calling on your personal number, block him outside of work hours.

This is why my phone stays off in the weekends ... (The work one)

@Jilano yep good advice my main issue, I guess, is having too much trust in human good sense.

See I’d never call my teammates/reports during off hours unless real urgent... and would expect the same from others but of course that’s where the fault lies :-)

Phone is a work one which I keep on for the single reason of ‘what if something really bad happens?’ Guess have to reprogram myself :-)

    Yes the turning off thing!

I used to feel guilty about this but after a while I stopped caring and started thinking "this is my free time". Since then (except for when i was the on call server engineer) I turned it off when I got home and on when leaving home :)

Message and call are not the same thing. Messages are asynchronous, meaning I can message you now and not expect a return message until you're available. I also don't worry about emailing or snail mailing people outside regular work hours. Just turn off your phone or set up the DND function in Slack.

@HollowKitty true enough but this cease to be true when you send chain messages... one after the other.

The chain of events I described in my rant is how it went as I was off on Friday when all started.

I don’t mind a mail message and usually even gladly will respond to it if By chance check my inbox but continuous WhatsApp messages are a different beast

Alas MS teams no slack for me :-s

@linuxxx perfectly describes my feeling ‘feeling guilty’ but guess your suggestion is the right one, I will force myself to give it a try

It's your fault tbh, shouldn't have answered at all.

    @IHateForALiving love the nick :-)

And yes I know that despite I simply ignore all messages ;-)

@PsCustomObject ghosting bosses on weekends is an act of kindness. In time you will teach them to enjoy their day off as much as you do :)

@IHateForALiving meh given my age and number of years in the field I should’ve learned at this point.

Apparently that bug is still there
