Bubbles66125y@12bitfloat as long as I can still program I’m good. I know it won’t be nearly as much but I’m okay with that

@12bitfloat I have a dilemma to choose weather cyber security or AI/ML for my master degree. I deeply love cyber security by as you know, how AI is tranforming the whole world.
-
Bubbles66125y@Jay-Kadam well one glaring thing I can see is not everything needs or can implement AI but everything needs security
-
I'm on a similar trip. Currently deep into C#, but I'd like to learn more about security.
-
Bubbles66125y@saucyatom I have a list of books I’m gonna go through to teach myself about security. After that I’m just gonna attempt to learn by participating in CTF’s, practicing what I learned by just doing it (ethically of course)

@Bubbles great plan. I'm currently redesigning my home network (to be driven by openwrt), overengineered to perfection of course, to learn more about networks and network security. I'm not sure whether I'd like to pursue it professionally, so far I just want to broaden my horizon and learn something new. Also I fear that the realities of business will suck the fun out of it.

Bubbles66125y@saucyatom that sounds really fun. I’m currently doing some network programming and that’s pretty fun, but I’ve also done the hardware side and I had a blast every time with that too. I wish you luck!

@Bubbles Thanks, to you too! So far I have managed to more or less complete a basic setup: multiple interfaces set to different VLANs with corresponding firewall zones, routing between those (so far only a basic yes/no to all traffic), multiple Wifi SSIDs, WAN + WAN6 (dual stack with VID) and access to the configuration of the external modem (only from the management port). I have learned a lot already!
-
@Bubbles Definitely! It feels good to be able to replace the shitty, insecure, wtf-is-a-vlan standard router soon. All hail the admin!
