Started new job today with another dev working on a different project. Told him I was hired as front end dev but was a full stack wanna-be. He said he mainly coded in php/java. In the course of the conversation I asked him what is preferred IDE/editor was, telling his I liked Sublime text but was warming up to VS code. He said he never heard of Sublime Text and only used Notepad++.

    I remember using Notepad++!
    It was freaking terrible!

    @Root Yes and no way can it compile for java development and set up a webserver for php development. Makes me think I should have asked for more money.

    Notepad++ the days before atom/vsCode.

    Although, sublime isn't a thing a dev would stumble upon if they didn't go looking for another editor.

    @orhun no, we dinosaurs started of with vi or edlin, no modern graphical ui’s ;)

    Hmm...we had a few people using note++ in my first job. However, we also used svn so... 🗑️🔥 😬

    I use notepad++, atom, vscode and sublime are to slow. For the real coding stuff I use jetbrains anyway.

    I take back all my doubts about this guy. Was getting a weird certificate error on my ubuntu instance in my VM. Due to a complicated security VPN token we use to connect to the network. He stayed late an hour to fix my issue, something I could never do. So I figured it out he’s systems guy who also codes. He should go into dev ops.

    @Root: Sublime text, too slow?!
    @Salmakis: Yes, were gonna have to go right to ... ludicrous text!
