Elendil3615yAlso this is not really related but: i really wanna get into Sys admin/DevOps is possible, and my friend says its a terrible idea because you have a lot of responsibilities (which is true tbf), and that i should look more towards developer jobs.
I just got out of university so i don't really have much professional experience. He says DevOps is something you do after some years of development, but i have seen several ads for DevOps graduate of junior positions so i think there might still be a chance.
Should i give up on this and look more towards dev work? I'd gladly do Sys admin. for free for a while if its about getting my foot in the door. -
C0D4669025y@Elendil do you.
If it's devops you want to do, then jump in and get your hands dirty!!
You won't need frontend skills for this side of things.
Sysadmin / devops tend to go hand in hand in most places. I would suggest looking at companies In you're area for job listings and seeing what the common platforms and tools they are using to get yourself started and as I said before jumping in. -
kurast3305y@elendil If you are into devops but dont know much about the field, you are not in a position to have an enterprise idea
-get to know devops tooling first: git, puppet, kubernetes and docker are the ones i hear the most
-help open source projects to build a github portfolio

I have this fried that gives me some advice on how to find work, he said i need to come up with a project idea as something to put on my CV and also as a way to learn front-end dev.
Easy enough if not for the fact that this project should be something that's actually useful and has some concept behind it (like, something that might seemingly work for a startup)
I've been raking my brain for a week now, and all i can come up with is small meme projects, neat but sort of inconsequential experiments, or things that might be useful to me but have no reason to be web-based.
I never realized how hard it is for me to come up with professional-sounding project ideas :D
I'm just not that kind of guy, i don't really have the drive or motivation to do anything professional: If people wanna use my rice or whatever spaghetti software i create they are welcome to, i'll even write them some documentation, but its just kinda out there on the internet because i like sharing. I don't really have any grand product ideas, nor do i really care about what other people think or need.
