@Nanos are you friend with all 2 billion people? We just need a small group of people who agree with our ideology and you can find them on privacy friendly social media also. I think who are you talking to don't matter as long as two of you have same interest.

@Nanos one can find people interested in activity s/he is interested on other platform also but as long as one already have an solution s/he doesn't find any alternative. Internet is full of people so, you will find people interested in knitting on other platform also although you may not find that many people as Facebook but they will be enough. I have ditch Facebook and Instagram for a long time and using telegram, devrant etc. As alternatives and it's working fine for me.

@Plasticnova To a criminal, robbing is indeed a valid business plan. To a tyrant, stomping out all resistance is a very desirable best practice. They can both be successful at what they do, even if literally everyone else despises them for it.

@Root but not everyone despises them, which is the real problem. There will always be ~1/3 of the population that will crave tyranny. They want that glorious boot pressing down on their necks, keeps them comfortable

@Plasticnova Yeah, we're having that problem over here too. People in this country are bloody insane and are craving the corruption and the total lack of control over their lives. It's vile and revolting and utterly inconceivable to me.

@Root it’s a kind of disappointment that is one of the most difficult to swallow. A shattering of perceptions that leaves you angry, apathetic, and scrambling to find an outlet that could provide some modicum of relief. At least that’s how it’s been for me

I dumped Facebook years ago and definitely lost friends that way but I refuse to take part in giving data to that mass surveillance company/engine.
I also dumped WhatsApp about 5 years ago (its like a first fucking life need over here) and also lost some friends due to that but again, its owned by Facebook and I refuse to take part in giving data to that mass surveillance company/engine.

@Nanos I partially agree; I just draw the line at my personal data being used for the commercial gain of a quite unethical company and the use of a company giving (reportedly) full access to their data to the biggest (illegal) mass surveillance network ever created.

I do have mastodon instance, for example, but I control that myself and that's acceptable for me :)
