So.... My mom became a victim of cyber bullying. And i just feel sad for her. She is an old but smart lady in her 50s and not very used to modern tech and cyber crime.

We follow a (now dead) philosopher (say 'X') as religion, some random stranger came in their local fb group and started shit posting about X like " he is not a god , he is a thief, follow me , bla bla bla" stuff like that..

I don't give 1 qbit to that shitposter or that fight. I am just concerned that my mom (and many others) got so disturbed that she left the work and came home.

Internet is great , free and all, but as long as everyone is allowed to speak everything without caring for a consequence, simpleminded people will keep on getting hurt, evil shitposters will keep on getting fame and people with an unsure mind will keep on making wrong decisions

I can give you numerous examples where a person got the power and fame just because he keep on getting famous for his negetive posts, religious or otherwise. This has to stop, but am not sure how.

    Unfortunately, that is life.

Did you just call your mom simple minded?
    ...

@HughRant and smart beforehand. but yeah that‘s life. how do u think trump got that far? or a lot of other politicians or other powerful people?

@HughRant simpleminded enough to not know how smartphones and other techy stuff works but also street smart enough to be an entrepreneur and manager of our resteraunt.

My English is bad, does simpleminded convey any other meaning?

@Frederick i am not even in that group otherwise would have definitely done the same. A lot of people there were very innocent and peaceful there.. they are all so hurt , and are saying abuses to him, suddenly all so violent and forgetting who they are.

I gave her a long neutralizing post to not be spiteful and make others stop giving that guy the attention he want and report to admin. I just hope this works, its painful to watch a group of good people ( i guess) turning into something they aren't

I don’t want to start a philosophical discussion but ‚good‘ people confronted with something ‚bad‘ often turn into something unexpected. Only when facing some unexpected, even traumatic experiences, people show their real selves because it makes them question, rethink their view of life, makes then show their true unreflected selfs.
I think you should see the positive side: mindless believing without reflection is never good. People should proactively decide for themselves what to believe in.

You could create your own group and be the moderator, basically kicking people like trolls from your group.
If you really want to do something about this problem, you might as well try to create a nice environment for your mum and perhaps her friends or whoever.
Also make sure to talk to her, she is only 50 she'll figure out the web faster than you thought but you'll have to guide her a little :)
I hope this problem will be solved soon!

    @aviophile what do u mean?

@Puroguramingu yeah i am doing points ,2 nd 3 the best way i could. And idk 50 is considered kind of old-ish here? Well we have running gags about age (i have some funny personal details as my reasons, so won't talk further about it )

And about the philospher we follow, well his name is Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/...) if you are curious. I am not a die hard religious follower, but i find their philosophy interesting. but again i am a little afraid to be a supporter of them in public, coz of the ongoing religious taboo in my country. He is fondly known as "baba" among his followers ( a bengali word for dad) , and this word "baba" is so scandalous that people will relate you as some cult supporter of criminal saffron clothed mind washer ( because their had been criminal influencers doing misdeeds under the name of religion, search "baba ram rahim" ).

Like every other religion they also believe that they are the right one and one day they will be recognised as such, but i dont have the time or energy to be an actively promoter of this message, even though i believe in them
