The worst thing in any hackathon is coming at 3rd position and there is a prize for only the first two teams.

The "devrant" tag is only for stuff related to this platform itself. "Developer rants" are just "rant" because there's no non-devs ranting here.

The worst thing about hackathons is when your Team and most others actually deliver a working prototype but the winning team wins for good marketing strategy without delivering any code what so ever

@don-rager and that's what happened in our case also , that really hurts we had a full working prototype flutter app completely taking in a speech to text sending it to the firebase database from where the backend flask api would translate the text and sends it again to the other flutter app.everything was working just smooth.
There were many challenges and we all worked really hard to make it work, It was not just a prototype but a complete working app.
But in the end, the team who made a good looking ppt and a well-prepared speech won it.
100k INR for winners 60k for first runner ups and a T-shirt for top 5. So you can imagine the pain
The mentors, in the end, told that they voted for us but the final judges voted for the second team so judges got the majority by 2-3 and we just lost by one point.
even the mentors wanted us to win, but I guess this is what hackathons are like...

@TheCommoner282 I don't usually complain about anything, but this situation is something you just can't stop complaining about...
I would have accepted the defeat if the winners were actually deserving...
and this t-shirt is all that I have now.
