Apps are getting saturated now, i dont think if app development has a future anymore.
No matter what you make its quiet difficult to beat the top 10 trending apps.13
Found devRant's duplicate on a website called hashnode, its some social media for developers with a devRant option to rant.

Any android master know how to send my phone's GPS coordinates to a webserver ?

Never in my life I thought I would be ditching chrome for Edge browser,
I am honestly impressed with this new chromium based browser.
Features I liked
- Make PWA for any website
- Immersive Reader
- All extensions of chrome can be installed on edge too
- More customisable
What I didn't like
- It is yet to come on Linux :(8
Can anyone help me solve this https://stackoverflow.com/q/...
I am stuck on this thing and did not receive any answers yet19
I never felt this satisfied in my entire life,
So I was working on an open-source org where people can come and read books online for free. But they were facing the challenge of making books text selectable with the mouse pointer. But the problem was that their website renders scanned images of the books so it is impossible to select text from it.
So I solved this problem by building a small prototype that could do it. All of the books that they have in their database are having XML files associated with them which contains the coordinates of each word. So the logic was simple - select a rectangular region to pass its coordinates and check whether the coordinates of a word are lying in that rectangular region or not and display them. This trick is helpful because most of the OCR generates a similar XML file.
So if you wish to use this prototype for your own projects - you can check my GitHub repository https://github.com/ishank-dev/...
please star it if you like.
Did anyone participate in GSOC 2020?

A cool script to automate copy and paste of commands from the web to the terminal
Usually, we do
1.Copy the command
2. Open the terminal
3. Paste the content copied into the terminal
4. Write password in case the command starts with sudo
My script does all that with one press of a shortcut.
Below is the link in case you like the idea of this automation
Is anyone good with writing shell scripts here?
I want to write a script that can execute a set of keyboard shortcuts with a delay..9
Today I removed all the stickers I had on my laptop, and it looks pretty clean and better now.
I still remember the day when I would do anything to collect schwag and free stickers. In fact - I joined devRant just to get those free stickers XD.
but yesterday I had to do a presentation in my college and during the presentation, I realized how stupid it is to have a laptop filled with laptop stickers.
What I used to chase in the past, is what I am getting rid of in present. And it is true with many other things as well. We crave things and once we get them it hardly matters to us.
I sometimes wonder what life is really about, and is there anything that we can cherish forever and not take for granted?13
I have never felt better after my break-up, I think today is the day I can say I have moved on and the only thing that saved me was programming. Working on a big project and dedicating most of the time working hard. Every time I solved a bug or added a feature I felt better, felt proud of myself. My self-esteem has improved drastically. And continuously winning in 3 big hackathon events acted as a cherry on top. Now when I look back at the old version of me I find how funny it was, all that drama and mood swings. If I could go back in time I would tell myself just one thing - "Do programming like anything and become so good at it that you don't get time to give fucks to anyone else in life".
Moral of the story - "Love programming you will learn how to love yourself "2
I have a very annoying person in my team, who thinks he is the leader and is so full of himself that once he gets some idea he makes it final without listening to other's opinion, kinda anti-humble.
Today he was explaining that we are going to implement this feature and one of the member had a doubt which was legit so that guy started explaining it, but didn't really understood what the question was ( as he always does) he was heated up already as he was explaining the same thing again and again but it was nowhere near what the exact question was, by mistake I entered the conversation and tried to explain the question to him, he became so annoyed that he lost all his patient and shouted at me to shut up. Not only I felt bad but also found myself helpless in such situation i didn't know what to do, I was annoyed like anything, and now I think that I don't really know how to deal with annoying people such annoying and toxic people..7
What will happen if every school starts teaching with binary numbers before the easy decimal number system?
I think it would be challenging initially but it can have a much greater impact on how we think and it can open a completely new possibility of faster algorithms that can directly be understood by computers.
The reason people hate binary systems is that all their life they make the decimal system a habit which makes them reluctant to learn binary systems into that much depth later on.
Just a thought. But I really believe if I would have learned the binary system before the decimal system than my brain would see things in a totally different way than it does now.
It sounds a little geeky yet thoughtful13
The worst thing in any hackathon is coming at 3rd position and there is a prize for only the first two teams.
Does anyone know a good way to retrieve back the indexes of elements in the unsorted list after sorting that list in python?
Let's say for example I want to find the largest element in a list, so I sort it and find the last element(as it will be the largest), now I want to retrieve its original position in the unsorted list.13
Is there a practical way to predict the crowd density of a place in real-time?
I was thinking of some way to scrape social media activities and using the geolocation tags to predict the crowd in that particular area?
But I am looking for a more accurate alternative!
All ideas are welcome12
