RAM buying advice needed!

I wanna upgrade from my measly 8GB to 32GB and I'm a bit lost at which RAM to buy. Just the cheapest or is there more to consider? Some cheap options are (due to an offer):

My hardware can only run at 2400 MHz (MS-7A74 + i5-7500), but the price difference is quite low and I'd be prepared for a (not yet planned) upgrade.

Find out what your mobo supports - I'd advice to look for XMP profile support. If your MoBo does not properly support the XMP profiles of the RAM, it should fall back to JEDEC profile, hence *suck*

Try to find the highest supported click frequency, then look at support and the timings, best in (non synthetic) Benchmarks (eg Anandtech)

Sorry, but 32 G RAM should be really default... Unused RAM isn't bad, and the price isn't high.

@shoop Qubes does, for gaming 16GB would be fine.

I'd recommend taking your CPU as the baseline and google combos. There are lots and lots of people testing ram/cpu combos.

Thanks for the suggestions so far! None of these are listed in the MB QVL. Maybe they are new revisions which were released after the MB, thus not listed. Anyway should they don't work for some reason, I could return them, so I don't mind to just try. I made some comparisons with timings and trimmed down the list to these:

I am leaning towards getting the 3000 MHz Aegis - I should be able to get the same timings as the 2400 MHz one when running at that speed and the price difference of (2x) 2€ is neglible. If/when I upgrade my system, I'd already have faster RAM.

The Ballistix has better timings at 3000 MHz, but much worse at 2666 Mhz, so getting the slower one is pointless, while the faster one is ~12% more expensive (2x 6€) than the 3000 MHz Aegis (and I can't run it at full speed currently anyway). Maybe I could squeeze out even better timings (at 2400 MHz) with that one though.. and it's still very cheap. In 2018 I got 16GB RAM (3200 MHz) for my dad and paid more than 160€!

Edit: With the voucher pickup is not possible, thus the price for each module increases by 4€ for shipping. ~100€ for 2x16GB is still great though.

The (3000 MHz) Ballistix have Micron E-Dies, the Aegis have SK Hynix AFR-Dies. It probably doesn't make too much of a difference now, but are more capable in regards to OC (and also already have better timings at 3000 MHz).

I guess now I'll just pay the little extra and feel good about having the better hardware (and being prepared to update, as some MBs are currently quite cheap as well) and have some fun playing around with the timings. Heck, maybe I'll decide to just get a new MB and CPU after all and then I'll better not have just bought then slow RAM. I like where AMD is going. Well, I'll see about that later.

↑ I did that. 116€ for 2x 16GB DDR-3000 CL15 with Micron E-Dies.
There are also some cheap B450 boards, but I want to wait for the next Ryzen generation and not spend 190€ for a R5-3600 now.
