I’m learning Japanese with Duolingo, so I enabled the keyboards in iOS. However I am not far enough along to know how to type what I need and the layout looks like it’s based on a 10 key phone. So for now I speak “おはよう” and have Siri do the writing.

And the tag should be “日本語” not “ジャパニーズ” because Siri is trying to be helpful.

At least I pronounced おはよう correctly.
    Well, close enough for Siri.

@amatrelan There are two keyboards for Japanese in iOS. It looks like the second one is the type you describe and I create characters via their English sounds, or something. Again, I’m new to this whole localization thing and I would hate to learn it wrong.
