I can't think of many that aren't specific to CPUs and testing at lower levels (vTune, profiler)

What C++ profiling tools out there are free and compatible for Windows and Visual Studio? I’m doing an internship and I’m tasked to do performance optimization, but nobody here has done it and while I did google stuff, everything seems to be for Linux only. Are there any handson resources you’d suggest for someone who’s learning performance in c ++?
