bahua128015yMy first tech job was for a software company that wrote its software in Delphi, using the Borland Database Engine. I was the sysadmin, charged with figuring out why compile times were long. Their tens of thousands of source files were all stored on a local server shared to EVERYONE via Samba, with compiles happening over the network. When someone compiled, they would announce to everyone else, and nobody would be able to do anything until the compile was complete.
It seems fitting to me, looking back, that it was all Delphi. -
Unknown today? yes. But before it was a flipping powertool man! Heck had the entire thing with Borland had not fragmented the way it did it would still be a powerhouse. We used delphi in a previous job I had and it wasn't bad.
Why the hate from your part tho? -

I used delphi back in a day for personal projects !
Liked it !
Felt like a good step from Borland Pascal with Objects -
My science teacher from highschool introduced me to gui programming with some of his old Delphi projects. Although it wasn't Delphi we were working on, it was on Lazarus.
Please die somewhere alone Delphi, you unknown piece of shit.
