When your minipc finally arrives, you're all excited to finally get your hands on pfsense/bsd, and you find out bsd is still struggling with wifi5, not to mention wifi6 which you've bought to have high-end networking at home..

Bummer

    @SortOfTested This beastie: https://aliexpress.com/item/...

    with i5 CPU, 8G RAM, .5TB SSD.

    Not a biggie.. I can flash it with any linux of my choice that supports AX :) Thinking CentOS maybe.. A CentOS-driven router. That'd be cool!

    Neat, let us know how it works. I'm using a protectli celeron for my pfsense.

    @SortOfTested I was thinking about this one. But the price is much higher if I want the same specs. So I went with a chinese cheapo.
    I love the idea of a modular device. Meaning I don't have to swap the whole device if I want a better/newer wifi support. Or if wifi starts misbehaving -- I can simple buy and install a new wifi card!

    Isn't BSD for people who are bored because they think Linux' hardware support is too good?

    @Fast-Nop true, but if you have hardware that's well supported (eg. Thinkpads) BSDs are really nice

    We should be applauding the bravery here, being the first real purchaser on Alibay.
