Meeting with American customers in Germany. One of them fetched a bottle of water with crown cap, but the opener was missing. She asked whether someone had an opener, so I got out a lighter and opened the bottle. Surprised looks.

My (Indian) PM: "That's a German thing, opening bottles with everything except bottle openers. Even with other bottles."

Customers were like, WTF?!

@Stuxnet Nah - Russians could do that, but they don't deal with anything below 40% vol, and those have screw caps.

Edge and a quick smack works too. I also saw a video of women opening bottles with their breasts. That was kinda scary.

Dutch as well. Why even look for an opener if you have something solid, like a phone, in your pocket 🙃

Wait, that's not a requirement for adulthood worldwide?

I like to open such bottles with my keys.

@Demolishun that's an American (?) bottle with that fancy screwable head, not the old style we're talking about here.

@kescherRant Ha, same! You never know when you'll need a drink, so better be prepared

I usually use a piece of furniture. Biting off the edge of the table on a conference might not be very diplomatic though.

reminds me of Karl Smallwood who likes to start his videos by opening a bottle with any random object lying around.

the best ones were when he opened it with a guitar, and another time with baseball.
