Because these people don't understand how to prioritise what they need, and buy tons of small things instead.
People don't know How to survive without modern luxury except for those who went out of their way to learn survival.
It's the same reason why face masks (most of which don't help much), are selling out. -
Tayo8965y@stonestorm it's not just toilet paper and face masks though
THE ENTIRE FUCKING STORE IS NEARLY SOLD OUT
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE -
I've been at the supermarket for the weekly shopping - before noon instead of late afternoon as usually. There was only stupid TP left, with flowers printed on it (WTF), but better than no TP, so I got an 8-pack. That's on top of the packs I have at home anyway, just to be sure.
Hell, even the pea/carrot mixed vegetable cans which usually nobody buys (except me) were sold out, as well as oatflakes. Anyway, I had already stocked that last week. :-)
Also the garlic was nearly sold out, so I got the rest of it. Helps against vampires, and summer sunlight which kills vampires is supposed to help against Corona, therefore garlic must also work against Corona.
At least the rest of the fruit and vegetable department was OK. I prefer that fresh, unprocessed and raw for as long as I can have it that way. -
olback107985yPeople think that the covid-19 virus gives you the shits. It does not. People are stupid.

mghrist895yIn my area a few smaller family owned stores have limited purchases to two packages per person because they've had loons try to purchase the store's full monthly stock. Staff at my local store said it's because they have regular customers that live nearby with no cars and depend on them for weekly supplies.
Those hoarders don't understand it's a bad cold, not a zombie apocalypse. -
SomeNone7135yGot my stock-up of TP a week ago at Lidl, it should be enough for the next month or so.
While a bidet is a good thing to have, on the one hand, good luck installing one in my tiny Dutch bathroom, and on the other hand, I lived in Argentina for a while a decade ago, and while almost everyone has a bidet there, they still use TP.
