@SweetHuman first let's see what happens when a website is down - people have that weird feeling something is not under "their" control. Now what happens when they find out the issue isn't in their machine - nervosity.

When the website is big or praticularly important, it can cause panic and chaos for its users and for admins the feeling of powerlessness. If you can target such chaos, it's quite useful. Either some kind of propaganda, attention or just showing political views.

DDos isn't really _that_ hard to achieve (especially on stupidly almost home-made servers), so it's quite safe to say even a skilled kid could do that. What's interesting in ddoses is the time for how long was the target "dead", which shows if there's a goat behind the keyboard or a thinking person (at least to me). ^^

@andunai not really. but i still don't get what it offers. if you're doing cuz you want to do it for no reason, you're mostly dumb.

@SweetHuman it's just a way to pressure people.
Yesterday I could push with https but not with git://. Related?

I've heard the ddos was to prevent the Assange killswitch from activating. Haven't confirmed though.
