I was talking to someone recently who organizes a conference and told me that some people complained that the speaker list wasn't diverse enough because he had only 2 women and no racial minorities. Apparently the numerous Asian (Indian and Oriental don't count), nor the the organizer who is in a minority. Only African (specifically black) counts a d's minority nowadays. We now have a world with I finite gender identities and only 2 races. 😰

To add to this, I am all for diversification and impulsivity, but we need to really think and take into account everything around us before we scream PC

I'm not for getting all power rangers on this, but I don't see a lot of Asian or Indian speakers at these things.

@sheriffderek I'm not saying the Asian's are not a minority; quite the opposite actually. I feel like it's ridiculous to say a conference is not diverse when they include hispanic and Asian speakers. Race is much more than black and white.

@davejlong I know what you are saying, but I'm saying that I still see mostly white men. But I know what you mean too.

@azuredivay yeah, I'm pretty sure that if there was a person with tons of open source contributions and was doing really innovative things and who was also a great speaker, they would be speaking at conferences no matter their ethnicity or background.
