I would like to murder postgres and the awful requirements of this damn project... Plus, I practically didn't sleep more than a blink last night so either postgres fucks off and gets its shit together with its transaction handling shit, or imma about to stab a bitch! πŸ—‘ βš”οΈ

    The cocksucker has a two phase commit, but then blind sides you with security disabled maximum prepared transaction limits. 😐

    Buen Provecho.

    I like postgres...

    Tho admittedly I've only had to install or configure the client/server software or just pump existing data in/out and not actually create DB contents from scratch in it...

    @NoMad
    That's basically "bon appetit" in Spanish.

    @theKarlisK basic sql with it is not that bad, but imagine if your data was big enough and one server wouldn't do the job. You have the same table with different data over multiple servers, and you wanted to edit multiple rows on different servers in one go. My scenario is "hypothetical" at this point but still a pain in the arse.

    @ODXT I know. I didn't get the point tho.

    @NoMad *looks over at Oracle DB* ...I mean it looks like a motherhugging b**ch to work with... but it's built like it was designed to run in a cluster environment with failovers.

    @theKarlisK idk man, I don't get the point of this stupid project anyways. I feel like I'm stuck in the past and have to reinvent the damn wheel.

    @theKarlisK btw, running in cluster is different from optimized code that can fetch all that data without exhausting the severs, or keep it hostage for long.

    @NoMad
    Basically, you are working on something that is a pain in the ass. So I am telling you "Enjoy".

    It's kinda a sarcastic way of saying good luck. I'm not sure how else to explain it.

    What is so bad about postges? I never worked with it. MySQL, Mariadb and sqlite are all fine by me. I really hate MS SQL though.

    @NoMad besides sqlite all rdbms have some arcane config bullshit you have to go trough. Welcome to a new dbms.
    I still hate how innodb can't shrink unless you use file per table. That drove up the storage cost when we temporarily imported 12 huge database dumps to generate a chart.

    @hjk101 compared to other sql servers, it's a fine one really. Idk, this is a rant not a scientific paper! If you have the extra mental capacity, go do something good for humanity instead of overthinking my fucking rant 😝

    @NoMad No worries rant away! Was just curious as I have seen a similar sentiment towards postgres recently.

    Humanity is a lost cause and not worth the effortπŸ˜…
