Not just developers but this pisses me right off.....

Guy gets upset... Slams pen on his pad... Has to go and have a half hour discussion about his 'attitude'

Girl gets upset... Starts crying... Everyone else has to get lectured about what made her cry.

Both emotional outbursts but apparently one is ok and one isn't.

*For the record no pens or pads were harmed while 'researching' this rant

    Dealing with machines is so much easier - isn't it? 😀

    @Jumpshot44 truth at it's finest form

    I completely agree

    Make the guy cry and it will became even more paradoxically...

    @elleshort

    Now now, no one is claiming there are no female devs. This was just a bit of sexism I experienced in work today and wanted to rant, since I'm a dev myslef and my dick of a boss is on Facebook this seems the logical place.

    I don't respond to girls crying in the work place the way they would like, if I'm supposed to leave emotion at the door then so are they.

    @elleshort

    It does sound fair, and that's my point entirely, why is one scenario treated different to the other.

    Plus I hardly think my original point is sexist, I was pointing out sexism and double standards not being sexist.

    @elleshort Now how his what he said sexist at all? Pointing out that it is publicly acceptable to treat men different from women for nearly identical actions and doing so isn't fair is no more sexist against women than saying that slavery was bad is racist against whites.

    If we are going to talk about sexism, I would love if we could bring up the fact that the only publicly available programming class offered in my city is offered by Girl Who Code (with no opportunity left for males), even though, where I live at least, there are far more males interested in CS than females.

    @SecondThread i found no account or comment linked to what you said. Care to explain?

    There was indeed another person, a girl avatar if I remember correctly that misunderstood what the rant said and thought that all comments were sexist...

    The account has probably been deleted... Maybe it's unconnected to that or it was a troll... Dunno

    @Etrunon oh ok. Or maybe it just left because she saw this is not the place for her unfortunately. Not everybody fits.
  • 2
    @SweetHuman yup...
    It's quite brutal that all comments are deleted... It could change how you read a discussion...

    Would't it be better to make the user something like "DeletedUser" and let the comment stay?
    Or even put a fixed comment "this user and comment has been deleted"?

    Sorry @dfox to bother you so much with new features 😅

    @Etrunon idk wich is better.

    @elleshort was her name

    She said something along the lines of "a girl might read this, do you not think girls can code" then she went on to say the original post was sexist.

    Sucks when you are left with half a conversation when someone leaves
