Yeah, this sounds suspiciously like malware.

I reeeeally doubt this. Even if you upgraded, the installation always asks if you want to keep your files or do a clean install.

I don't know what it is I thought that I didn't have virus.. I could turn it on but it keept crashing(BSOD).. So I just installed ubuntu gnome

It didn't boot all the way it just kept crashing I tried to get files but they were gone..

Had similar due to a power surge, after about a day of just constantly going in to see if can get into recovery finally it just magically booted. Think was after removing and putting back the little battery in bios. still no idea. shit happens
