A few years back we hired a new guy for our sales department. He worked with us for less than a week and seemed pretty normal.
Until one day he came into my office sat reeeeally close to me and actually whispered into my ear: "last night around midnight i was a bit hungry so i got up and fried some sausages".
Then he looked at me with the weirdest grin ever and just sat there for like 15 seconds not moving a muscle.

What devrant taught me:
Everyone hates java
Everyone hates php
Everyone hates spaces
Everyone hates tabs
Everyone hates vim
Everyone hates windows
Everyone hates linux
Everyone hates clients
Everyone hates PMs
Everyone hates every language they're not working with
Everyone loves devrant 😊36 -
I was explaining to my mom how my company is in need of developers and how we'll need more of them in the future - to which she replied:
"oh... what are you going to do? You can't live without a job!"
- erm? What?
"Well - you're not smart like those guys. You'll probably get fired now."
- Wtf mom!? I'm a friggin lead dev and i've been a developer for like 10 years now!? 😳
*silence* "is that what you've been doing? I thought you just kept clicking on stuff"11 -
Give me an example of a cool thing your PM/team leader did for your dev team.
Our douche PM got sacked so i need ideas for my fellow dev team 🤓
*chuggs coffe in celebration*2 -
Just migrated a behemoth of a wordpress installation and it works twice as fast on our shared hosting than the previous dedicated server with cdn it was on.
After just 2 emails from the previous website admin i understood why... The guy clearly has no idea what he is doing.
There should be an IT police squad for cases like these.1 -
Just had to update a website i did for a client 4 years ago. I want to travel back in time and bitchslap myself. Horrible... Just horrible coding...3

Rate your company / co-workers, how intersting the projects are! (1 to 10), and write down how long have you been working for them.
I'm really curious to see how satisfied people are with the social part of the company they work with.4 -
Pretty much when i stopped listening to the same old "my printer is jammed" requests in helpdesk and saw a friend dev earn twice as much as i dis at that time without dealing with (that many) idiotic situations.
A few years later - i'm a happy little coder. And i have my own minions to deal with support. Seniority rules :D3 -
Is there a worst piece of junk than Sharepoint? 32gb ram on a dedicated server, clean install... Runs like a dead cat that was ran over by a train several times and full of retarded errors... Sigh...
I'll just go ram my head against the wall for a while2 -
Since you liked my last coding playlist find, I decided to share one more service that gives endless coding tranquility to your ears - www.di.fm
Enjoy!2 -
I was working for a web company as an intern and they had maintained a lot of high profile websites like celeberties, government and radio/tv. I recieve 2 mails with news updates from the clients pretty much at the same time.
One was a formal call for a campaign of one of our biggest clients, and the other was from of our small clients that was into cat breeding.
Since we use our custom cms for all the sites I sucked at multitasking back then - I published the news on the wrong sites so for a good hour i made our high profile client a cat breeder...2 -
Managed to succesfully tweak bootstrap 3 into using flex-box like attributes. Works perfectly... Aaaaand then there's Internet explorer...2

I'd be interested to hear what are some bad development practices you've ran into in your company?13

After working with Laravel for a while and all the awesomsauce of blade engine, I had to go back and make a Wordpress theme for a client...
The amount of opened and closed php tags in view files is just hidious to look at... :(2
