Maybe this is old news but I decided to give it a try since I changed my username.

But basically u could impersonate users?

Fck and now I revealed the change... So yes I guess it's a bit of a dilemma.

Maybe @dfox can allow the transfer of ++ from an old account to new... But then maybe ppl will start selling their accounts...

Can you like choose which of your previous usernames you use?

@ScriptCoded I changed my username, then created an old account with my old username.

So in theory this new account could start following up on those mentions as the original

I guess it's an unsolvable problem... If you delete ur account it's the same.... Someone could take your name.

@donuts I guess a common way is to link the @'s by ID, not username

@donuts you don’t lose subscribers when you change your username. The only thing that is lost is references in other comments that mention your old username.

@dfox then maybe can do what ScriptCoded said. Replace at @username in msgs with @id and return a lookup if all the ids => username in the json. Probably easier to store this on the rant actually. Add remove when comments are added/deleted rather than aggregating each time the rant is requested
