Not a rant/!rant

Got a new job, already learning a lot and nice and helpful colleagues. 😄 Except I find it really hard to get used to their codebase because it's huge! How long does it take for some of you to get used to the new code base of your new job?

When I started, I was in QA and the code base was one monolithic repository...

Then it was split into two repositories via super-efficient copy-pasta to cover the front end and back end causing much stale code to linger for a while in both.

Fast forward 5 years, I'm a developer now and the codebase is now comprised of over 30 repositories spanning several languages and many servers...

Nope, I'm still not used to it.

Yeah, almost 2 years in and not used to it yet. I think its missing some meat balls ...

It depends on the codebase, if it is well written it shouldn't take more than a few days to understand the big picture and the parts you are working on. (If it is bad you will never truly understand it)
