Dear, google chrome browser. Please stop taking up so much RAM. You are a browser not a game. Worst browser ever.

    I think Google sees it more as a platform than a browser

    You can always switch back to Firefox (also known as CrashFox )... you can switch memory consumption with insane processor usage... so I guess take your pick. :)

    Opera? Opera runs on Webkit now... so basically another Chrome...

    Firefox dev edition is awesome👌

    Use Firefox for development, Opera for general browsing.

    I can't live without Firebug nowadays anyway, and Opera is ridiculously fast.

    I thought Google was working on that

    Switching to Chrome Canary solved a few memory issues for me this week. I assume the stable release had a few dramas.

    @Jase I'll try Vivaldi, I'm very frustrated with chrome and it's ram usage... I have some clients who have low end laptop and chrome is just killing it... I'll update what my findings with Vivaldi

    @Jase I've tried Vivaldi early days ( beta or something ) it wasn't that impressive, i guess i should try again

    @Jase well i use chrome mainly because of the developer tools, is just awesome, pretty much everything you need in a workflow is there.

    and should be able to handle lots of tabs, and multiple profiles.

    and should support extensions like adblock, json view, style bot etc etc

    @T-Hammer
    Opera basically is chromium..

    It takes 250 MB RAM here with 10 tabs that stream YouTube 1080p60 videos open. "Much RAM consumption"? Not here.

    @gnaaah like minecraft now is a game engine not a game.
