Companies moving away from words like blacklist, master-slave are going to spend developer resources on doing this.

What kind of sensetive idiots have we become that we are wasting productive time? Not that we could be cracking quantum theory problems in that time, but still, seriously!

What's next? Update the dictionary and remove all words ?

And don't comment that I'm insensitive to atrocities. I understand atrocities over race/gender (I come from a brown country, face racism everyday) but how does spending time on updating code bases help?

    That's a lazy way of voiding themselves from responsibility, so that next time someone brings up racism, they can shrug and say they did their part by removing it from their culture and vocab. Same mofos pay minorities less, with weird-ass excuses but they want to feel superior and brag that they did the right shit. Ffs. It's a stunt to not address the main issue.

    @NoMad I know man. It works in 2 steps.

    People unnecessarily portraying sensetivity which is boosted by today's click-bait make-everyone-happy social media.

    Individuals and corporations using this as an opportunity to publicly display they have played their part.

    In the process, the original cause is lost. Fucking hate this world.

    Virtue signaling at its finest...

    I'm almost tempted to use an actually-offensive branch name the next time I make a repo. Just for funzies and the sweet, sweet impotent outrage.

    @EmberQuill I support you 😂

    @EmberQuill or just use normal names. That's considered outrageous nowadays.

    As with most changes like this one, I find myself asking whether anybody in the affected marginalized group actually cares about this change, or if it's just a bunch of people from a majority group completely missing the point as usual.

    @EmberQuill I guess the latter

    I mean no one in their right mind will support racism. But calling black list a black list is just convention. And changing such widely spread harmless conventions will cause huge impacts

    @enpega trend hasn't reached universities yet. Perhaps Main of Business Administration.

    Manchester United will become Folkchester United. Abbreviated to Folk - U 😂
