First rant. 3 years in my first job as a developer. It's been great. I've learned a ton. But the past 6 months have been awful. Our client is forcing us to remote into a cloud pc, which we then use to remote into Ubuntu. All development must be done this way. Everything is extremely slow. To the point that you can type faster than the screen can update. I want to jump out of the window. I'd basically have to move to get a new job, which Im not really into. Just bought a house a year ago, family is here, blah blah. Just hoping if I ride it out, client will wise up and let us use our own computer again.

    That sounds like misery.

I would totally duplicate the dev environment and work locally, get everything done three times faster, and take the rest of the day off. Every day. 🤷🏻‍♀️😊

If you haven't already, please take that up with your manager. That is unacceptable!

Are you a leader of engineering team? If yes.. It's your responsible to fix this.

If not, you should push the leader...

Couple of things. Management is well aware of our frustrations. I'm not really going to jump out of the window. And the client is the govt, so it's basically shut up and deal with it. Some of the folks that have been working here forever have told me it will get better. I just have to wait it out, and they will wise up.

I remember working in a very similar environment 15 YEARS AGO!! Can't believe this is still a thing.

And what's the technical holdup in logging directly into the Ubuntu?
