@ScriptCoded I am making an unofficial iOS client for devRant, it will also have avatar editing support (I reversed the entire system a few weeks ago).

@frogstair everything is negotiable, and if nothing would help, then I'll just distribute the IPA file from GitHub

@frogstair also, there are unofficial clients that are already in certain app stores

@frogstair another group was allowed to release on the Microsoft Store, they made a UWP client for devRant

@OmerFlame yeah to be clear - we don’t allow third-party clients in app stores we support (and that isn’t negotiable) and the Windows client creator worked closely with us on API considerations and security since third party apps have to directly take username/password.

Like I’ve said before, perfectly fine for your own use/if you want to make available as open source example, but may not be published in Apple/Google Play.

@dfox To be honest, that decision strikes me as odd, considering the crashing mess the official devRant app has become - especially on iOS, it seems more bearable under Android.

@kescherRant we’re working on fixing crashes - a new version will be released soon. Also, while I know the crashes are definitely annoying, I’d rather there be crashes than put security and personal data at risk.

And to support that statement, all I have to say is: Everyone, take a look at the devRant bug tracker.

@dfox An app that is open-source would probably not put anyone's account or security at risk.

@kescherRant I literally said it could be open sourced in my message above. What I said can’t happen, and would threaten security, is third-party apps be published to the app stores since there would be no oversight and they’d be using username/password logins.
