@grokmann Yes, it does. Unfortunately, I most often only know at the end of a message that I need it but the command only works at the start. It's better than anything else for sure ^^

I read recently that there is a hidden ascii emoji keyboard in iOS. I want to say to enable it you had to do something with the Japanese keyboard. If that's helpful at all.

@silhoutte thanks for pointing this out. It made me search something similar for Android and there is “personal dictionary”. That's awesome! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As @silhoutte @k0pernikus have pointed out, lot of keyboards have this feature. In SwiftKey you can save the emoji from sites like http://superkawaiiemoticon.tumblr.com/... and set a tag for it. When you enter the tag you get the emoji.

Whenever I want to type the shrug emoji, I copy it from a Google note ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I can type emojis just fine, enjoy a 🍓, yet there is a clear lack of accessibility for ASCII-emojis input on any device.
How is this fair!?
PS: I do know that this shrug is actually utf8 and not ascii. But that's beside the point. Also try saying “utf8 emoji” three time in a row.
