I'm pretty anti-apple but it's clear that the 3.5mm jack and the standard USB port is going to go. Other manufacturers will be using only type C very very soon. BT > 3.5mm and everything will use type C USB.

    Honestly, Bluetooth isn't that much better than the 3.5, Bluetooth consumes more battery and I'm not sure but I think it has worse audio quality.
    Besides, I think forcing a standard is stupid, you should wait for the standard to set by itself, in my opinion they should've started by launching some wireless/lightning headphones before launching the phone, this way it feels to forced

    It's definitely forced but I'm just saying that it's inevitable, for most people Bluetooth is way more convenient than 3.5mm, and the sound quality difference is close to 0 for the average person listening to mp3 files @ <=320kbps compressed.

    USB-C will never take off until it's built into non-premium devices.

    @osmarks In Q4 2017, 80% of all devices will support USB-C.
    Wait and see

    @rmahey Bluetooth may be more convenient, but the relative cost of decent Bluetooth headphones to decent 3.5mm wired headphones is massive.

    Until Bluetooth units can be made inexpensively and still be good, 3.5mm should remain.

    @rmahey that convience is very subjective. I used to wear blue tooth headphones constantly, but I got sick of the inconvenience of charging them. Nothing is more annoying that being in the zone coding only to have my own headphones betray me with low battery beeps and to refuse to provide me with my productivity enhancing coworker blocker.
