Dafuq... My new position label is Senior Software Developer.
I do not identify myself as a senior even in my wet dreams.
I'm confused.

    Welcome in the family.

    Now you're old, wrinkly, stubborn, hard to deal with and a pain in the ass

    Maybe because for whatever you do in your wet dreams you are not in senior level :)
    But in software development you are.

    @IntrusionCM Yeah, OP is old and no one knew how to tell him

    @IntrusionCM I am hard to deal with, but not old enough yet.

    @iiii Age isn't relevant...

    If age would equal experience, senior devs wouldn't be categorized "dumb smarty pants" with exceptions. ;)

    It's one of the most frustrating expectations in IT.

    @iiii That's another issue, but you should definitely talk to a specialist about it.

    @Jilano which issue?

    Companies are wack with titles. I got an offer to CTO at a charity (if they can get funding for perm staff) but it really just means sole developer and master over all things electronic

    @TheBeardedOne well, yeah. The most concerning thing is high expectations after this project. Though... It should last for several years, so at the end I might be a true senior after all.

    I've seen others with barely 3 yrs of work experience being given the title. :P

    @NoMad I have around 3 and a half in this company starting from junior
  • 1
    @iiii So you're not the worse :P
  • 0
    @NoMad being not worse that the worst is not really an achievement 😄
  • 1
    the real question is are you getting paid like a senior dev now? or did they just give you the title without the benefits
  • 1
    @Bubbles considering the company wise freeze, no 😒
  • 1
    @iiii that’s a shame
  • 1
    @Bubbles it really is

    @iiii ouuuuuuuch I just saw the typo! :s sorry, I meant worst. but still, it is kinda an achievement. there is still some distance to the rock bottom. lol.

    Wtf. At my company we don't use labels. We're just {companyName}ers. Of course, we know who to go to for experience, DevOps, marketing, sales, HRM, finance, etc. But no need to label that! Even to the outside, e.g. customers and visitors we're just the same.

    @eeee it's for knowing what your responsibilities are.
  • 1
    @iiii I know those without putting a label on my job.
